Grand Street Campus High School’s Rahmel Ashby will participate in the PSAL (Public Schools Athletic League) Championship Division title game on Sunday despite two arrests on gun-related charges in the past 18 months.

The running back was charged with attempted murder in April 2014 after police say he fired a gun and wounded three people, according to NY1. He posted $50,000 bail and was released.

He was arrested again Oct. 30 and charged with gun possession after police say he had a loaded .380 semi-automatic handgun. He was again released on $500,000 bail.

The city Department of Education does not have eligibility guidelines that address criminal allegations. Ashby’s attempted murder trial is set for January.
