Kojima began the thread by stating “I can say the Famicon back then changed my life” before detailing why. Immediately a lot of fans took the time to agree with this sentiment and it is not surprising considering the NES had some incredible games that are still enjoyable now. Kojima went on to detail that the first game he purchased after calling up local toy stores to get a system was Urban Champion. The fighting game was released in 1984 and it left a lasting impression with one of the most successful game creators of all time. The story of Hideo Kojima skipping class to spend more time playing the games on the console and supporting purchases through a part-time job seems to have resonated with fans who have had similar experiences.

This personal story will undoubtedly add to the following of Kojima although it is pretty large already. Recently, Kojima denied rumors that he was a prophet because of the similarities between Death Stranding and the current coronavirus pandemic. While the director is not a prophet, it is clear to see why he has so many fans. Hideo Kojima has been responsible for influential games and has been forthcoming about his passion for gaming through social media which allows fans to connect with him.

Many fans will hope to see more content from Kojima as rumors about a follow up to Death Stranding circulate. Whatever the director is working on next, this tweet about a personal story suggests that there will be plenty of people interested.
