It’s already been suggested that Hideo Kojima could reveal his next game at the award show, which begins on December 8 at 4:30 PM PT. Actors Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna have been confirmed for the project, though what the game actually entails is still a mystery. Many will no doubt be on the edge of their seats, waiting for Kojima to finally announce what he has in the pipeline. But until that point, all fans can do is sit tight and try to work out what each of his mystifying messages could mean.

In his latest tease, the Kojima Productions director posted an image to his Twitter profile, which shows three figures in silhouette. This suggests that a third actor may be getting revealed very soon. Accompanying the image is a message that simply reads “‘WHO’ ‘WHERE’ ‘HOW’ and now ‘WHY,’” which again gives no solid information about what’s going on. However, it seems likely that Kojima is getting ready to make an announcement, and the fact that The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley replied to each of Kojima’s mystery tweets seems to support the theory that things will become clearer at the show this year.
For those interested, there are a number of ways to watch The Game Awards show, with viewers being offered rewards and drops for certain games. Valve has also said it will be giving away one Steam Deck per minute of the event, so there’s even more incentive to tune in. As mentioned above, the event kicks off on December 8, with a 30-minute pre-show beginning at 4:30 PM PT.
As one of the most influential figures in Japanese gaming, Hideo Kojima is a name that is familiar to many, with a body of high-quality work that typically mixes video games and cinema. Kojima Productions has so far released one game, 2019’s Death Stranding, so no doubt there will be plenty of eyes and ears on the award’s ceremony to see whether the auteur reveals more about his next project.
