Within the last several years, Kojima has used social media to not just cryptically tease upcoming projects, but also discuss his personal interests, such as movies and TV. For instance, Kojima praised Robert Pattinson’s performance in The Batman shortly after the film’s release. However, Kojima’s most recent fascination, and subsequent confusion, pertains to a newly released anime series.

Over on Twitter, Kojima tweeted about the first episode of the new season of Made in Abyss, and while his experience doesn’t seem to be negative, he was rather confused while watching the episode. Kojima mentioned how much time had skipped in-between the two seasons and how he was glad to see a familiar member of the team appear at the end of the episode.

It’s likely that Kojima neglected to watch Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, which covers events that bridge the gap between the first and second seasons of Made in Abyss. An honest mistake, especially given the anime industry’s recent trend of releasing anime movies to accompany popular series. In the last several years, anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer have both received anime films that cover canonical story events outside the main series.

In any case, it’s amazing to see Hideo Kojima’s ongoing enthusiasm for entertainment of all kinds. The fact that Kojima’s remained positive on social media, after being mistakenly identified as Shinzo Abe’s assassin is quite impressive. Negative attention and association like that can be a severe detriment to Kojima’s reputation, and while Kojima Productions will be taking legal action, it’s also nice to see him casually discuss his interests amid controversy.

It will be interesting to see what Hideo Kojima has in store for fans in the future. While no new projects have been officially unveiled, it has been confirmed that a collaboration between Kojima and Xbox is currently in the works. Right now, it’s impossible to know what the project is, let alone what it will look like, but with Kojima at the helm, it should certainly excite a number of fans.
