While the situation is undoubtedly swimming in controversy, Coffee Stain Studios has opted to make light of the recent events and the growing tension between Konami and its fans within Goat Simulator.
In an update on the game’s official Facebook page, the developer of the smash indie title announced that it has added Hideo Kojima and his since renamed studio, Kojima Productions, into the end credits of Goat Simulator. It didn’t end there either, as the credits sequence also kindly ask Konami to bring back both the pulled P.T. demo and cancelled Silent Hills.
A comment from Coffee Stain Studios that went up alongside an image of in-game accreditation only further pokes fun at the situation, while stating that the team would be more than happy to work with Kojima.
Of course, this action is satirizing the fact that Konami had briefly removed Kojima’s name from the boxes of existing Metal Gear titles, which only just recently happened before the company immediately saw the error of its ways and restored the creator’s name to the franchise’s packaging.
Meanwhile, it’s well known that fans have already started petitioning to have Guillermo del Toro’s take on the Silent Hill series put back into development, so it makes sense that Goat Simulator would lampoon that initiative too. Overall, this stunt has had its intended effect and it’s certainly to be expected from a game that’s known for being over-the-top and laugh-out-loud goofy.
