Interesting, but not surprising as the game has had a cult following ever since its release. It spawn a follow-up that was almost as popular (depending on who was asked), an MMO, a plethora of extended universe content, and more. Conversations to this day regarding Star Wars media will often bring up Revan’s name, as many still argue whether or not the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Jedi Master or Sith Lord is canon or not, but Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker seemingly confirms this.

Regardless, Revan and his game are incredibly popular and that’s exactly why he’s trending today. It seems the trend originated from a few gaming and Star Wars-focused platforms that asked what the best Star Wars game of all time is, fitting for May the 4th. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was pitted against the likes of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Republic Commando, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and Star Wars: Battlefront 2, among others. And since it’s the one trending, it appears to be the clear winner.
Unfortunately, many like saw the trend and hoped that a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game had been announced, as this was the reason behind many Star Wars-related trends today. That’s not the case. Many understandably clamor for a new game, with BioWare reportedly teased with KOTOR 3 once, but it’s never manifested.
As such, a continuation of the series seems less likely by the day, but stranger things have definitely happened. It clearly has the fan base, yet KOTOR’s remains an enigma, unlike its presence as many’s “best Star Wars game of all time.”
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is available now.
